Established in 2025, CaptuRE Recycling, LLC, is a North Iowan startup that restores the
value of the plastic we throw away.
Through active community and business participation, CaptuRE takes local recyclables and processes them into
something meaningful.
Furniture, construction materials, sporting goods, and even musical instruments can all be made from 100%
recycled plastic waste sourced from Iowa!
Not only does this plastic get diverted from our landfills, but it also transforms into sustainable products
that customers can enjoy and appreciate.
At the core of CaptuRE’s mission is to empower and inform the community about the plastic waste crisis.
The general public deserves to know what really happens to their recycling and should be provided with the
knowledge to help tackle their plastic footprint. Collective action is one of the only tools we have to
reduce our plastic intake effectively, and CaptuRE will be the heartbeat driving the change. CaptuRE will
strive to be a knowledge base for everything waste-based: Local presentations, park cleanup days, website
articles, waste consultations, and much more will be offered to North Iowa communities to pursue a cleaner
future.

Sustainability
We support policies and practices that substantially decrease the amount of plastic
waste consumers and producers generate. Significantly reducing plastic production is an essential step in
preventing plastic pollution. Recycling only fulfills its purpose if it prevents plastic from being discarded
into landfills or the environment, so only when we turn off the stream of virgin plastic production can we
notice our progress in reincorporating waste into our circular economy.
Knowledge
As the adage goes, ‘knowledge is power.’ At CaptuRE Recycling, LLC, it is our mission to
inform the community about where their plastic ends up after they have used it. As observed in academic research
and in documentary media, the world is only scratching the surface of how plastic waste is impacting flora and
fauna (including the human anatomy), both in the immediate term and in the long run. It is the right of our
community members to know the significance and ramifications of using plastic in daily life and how to take
action to address their plastic usage.
Transparency
Waste is a dirty business, both in a literal sense and, in many cases, in policy within
the world’s theater. Many dealings in ‘waste handling’ are performed without informing or including the true
stakeholders (such as residents in marginalized areas of the world or of direct involvement, future generations,
and conservationists) in discussion. CaptuRE Recycling, LLC, first and foremost, is a resource for the Northern
Iowa area to utilize and benefit from. Community members, customers, and the public have the right to inquire
about the CaptuRE Recycling process, as well as be up to date on new developments, achievements, and resources
the company may provide.
Advocacy
Plastic has a direct impact on every person on Earth. Plastic is an extremely useful
resource for applications that need lightweight, durable, and/or disposable materials (for example, medical
devices/PPE, electrical insulation, and transportation). In nearly all other applications, however, plastic is
used primarily because of its cost-effectiveness in production. Nevertheless, we at CaptuRE Recycling, LLC
attest that the cost of producing waste is not being incorporated into the evaluation of a product, even though
it is just as important, if not more than, as producing the item to the market. It is our duty and mission to
shift the mindset of our community to think of the long-term cost of using items that only benefit or have value
in the short term. After all, we humans will be the ones who must deal with any negative consequences for
prioritizing convenience over sustainability.
